FAQ: Does a green automated check prove the control is working?

Not by itself. It provides evidence only about what the check measures, and only if its data and logic are reliable. Ask which systems are included, when the check last ran, what permissions it needs, and what it ignores. For example, detecting a configuration setting does not necessarily establish that every relevant account is covered or that exceptions were reviewed. Keep the check's purpose and limitations documented alongside the control. Have an owner investigate contradictory evidence and stale results. Use the dashboard to direct attention, then rely on the underlying records and the broader control process to explain what happened.
