Consider an advisor when the team cannot turn audit expectations into workable processes, when scope is unclear, or when a deadline needs experienced project coordination. Define the missing capability before requesting proposals. You may need help with one difficult area rather than a full outsourced program. Ask for concrete deliverables, named staff, knowledge transfer, and a clear boundary between advice and management decisions. If your team already operates the controls and mainly needs an evidence calendar, a lighter engagement may be enough. Buy the help that removes a specific obstacle, and keep an internal owner who can continue after the advisor leaves.
